Jeanie Marie Buss was born in America. She is the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently acts as the association's president. A California native, Buss has been raised by an affluent family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty tycoon, after which he later became the owner of the Lakers. She felt abandoned emotionally after her parents split in 1972. As a 19-year-old she was able to take over the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as General Manager. She then founded the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. She was president of the Great Western Forum, before becoming Vice President of the Lakers. Buss along with her five brothers and sisters and their father, who owned the Lakers and ruled them up to his death in 2013, took over the ownership via an estate. Each of them enjoyed equally voting rights. In 2013, Buss took over the presidency of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also part-owner of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling association).
