Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of Winona Ryder gave her the name of the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother was both an author as well as editors. Ryder's father came from a Jewish family. Ryder believes she is Jewish. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria as well as half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder moved with her family to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. In Mendocino County, they did not have electricity. Ryder would read extensively due to the lack of television. In 1993, he was nominated twice for Academy Awards.
